McCanns’ local station up for IRN award

By Press Gazette

One of the biggest news stories of the last year, the disappearance of Madeline McCann, has led to an IRN award nomination for the McCann’s local station, Leicester Sound.

The GCap station is up for best news programme for its coverage, competing against 105.4 Century FM (NW) for its gun crime special, Real Radio Scotland for the Commonwealth Games and Hallam FM’s 6 o’clock News.

Hallam FM has racked up a further three nominations – best news coverage for its coverage of the floods last summer, news reader Katy White for newsreader of the year, and for scoop of the year for ‘Mystery floods hero’.
