Northcliffe to launch new weekly newspaper in Gloucestershire

By Press Gazette

Gloucestershire Media Group, a subsidiary of Northcliffe Media, is to launch a 64-page, weekly news and property magazine for Stroud tomorrow.

Stroud Life will be given away free with weekly paper The Citizen for four weeks but will be available alongside the group other titles, including the Gloucestershire Echo. It will have its own section on the group’s website Thisisgloucestershire, which will feature breaking news and chat forums and will be edited by Vicky Temple, a former Citizen feature editor. The Stroud Life package will also include a video service, Stroud TV.

In its first issue, the paper has 36 pages of property as well as news, comment and sport.

Andrew Blair, Gloucestershire Media Group’s managing director, said the website would ‘tie-in’with the jobs, cars and homes websites owned by Northcliffe, ‘to offer an unrivalled package of trusted, vibrant and compelling local content and market –leading classified platforms.”

Ian Mean, editor in chief of Gloucestershire Media Group and also editor of The Citizen, said: ‘I am very passionate about the Stroud community, and this will give us the opportunity to better champion the issues that really matter in the area.

‘This is a community of individuals who believe in issues and debate. We will be using our growing online presence to develop that interactivity with the local community-to have an ongoing conversation with them online and in print”.
