The Press Association has announced a deal with Newsquest Media Group to supply multimedia content to the group’s websites.
According to PA the deal includes text, photos, video and interactive graphics for use on Newsquest’s weekly and daily newspaper sites including www.boltoneveningnews.co.uk, www.dailyecho.co.uk and www.theherald.co.uk.
Newsquest will use content from The Press Association to create multimedia news packages around the day’s top national news, sport and entertainment stories. This will include around twenty-five video clips a week gathered by PA video journalists.
Titles in Scotland, including the Herald and the Glasgow Evening Times, will get a dedicated Scottish video news service, encompassing up to twenty video stories a week.
Newsquest group editorial director Margaret Strayton said: “We believe this national package will complement our ultra local packages with up-to-the minute information and variety of viewpoints to be key. We know that consumers of news and information are increasingly becoming ‘news grazers’ sampling a veritable media buffet throughout the day. There is a seismic shift in the media marketplace and Newsquest is transforming its culture to meet this challenge.”
According to PA, the agency currently employs 30 video journalists and has a further 35 video trained reporters and photographers.
