The Financial Times today unveiled a number of senior editorial appointments for the paper’s London and New York offices.
Henny Sender has left the Wall Street Journal to be the FT’s New York-based international finance correspondent. Sender wrote for the WSJ’s Money and Investing section where she covered hedge funds and private equity and previously worked in Hong Kong for the Asian Wall Street Journal.
Tunku Varadarajan has been appointed contributing editor, mainly writing reviews and essays for the FT’s weekend edition. Varadadarajan was assistant managing editor and op-ed editor at the Wall Street Journal, as well TV and media critic.
He was a professor of law at Oxford University before moving into journalism and is currently a professor at New York University.
At the paper’s London headquarters, Sylvia Pfeifer joins from the Sunday Telegraph as defence industries correspondent, covering aerospace, defence and companies such as British Airways and Rolls Royce.
Justin Baer has joined the paper as a New York-based US business reporter from Bloomberg News, where he covered mergers and acquisitions.
Last week the FT appointed award-winning historian Niall Ferguson as contributing editor.
