Promotions for Daily and Sunday Telegraph City editors

By Press Gazette

The Daily and Sunday Telegraph’s City editors have both been promoted.

Sunday Telegraph city editor Dan Roberts has been made deputy editor of the Sunday Telegraph.

Damian Reece, currently City editor of the Daily Telegraph, has been made head of business across the Daily and Sunday titles and Telegraph.co.uk.

No replacements for the City editors’ jobs have been announced as yet, but it is believed that appointments will be made.

In another change, Iain Martin has been promoted from deputy editor of the Sunday Telegraph to group executive editor across both titles. He will be writing a column for both the daily and Sunday titles.

The changes follow Patience Wheatcroft’s exit as editor of the Sunday Telegraph two weeks ago and her replacement with Ian MacGregor (who was deputy editor of the Daily Telegraph).

It is understood that she left as a result of “strategic differences” with management which centred around moves to involve Sunday Telegraph journalists more closely in the web operation.
