The managing director of London talk radio station LBC has been made redundant following a management shake-up announced today by new owners Global Radio.
David Lloyd, who joined the station in August 2005, is one of several key executives to lose their jobs, as the group seeks to simplify the structure of the radio assets it bought from Chrysalis for £170m in June.
Managing director positions at Global’s LBC, Heart and Galaxy brands have been axed, in a move which Global claims will “see station directors having greater responsibility and will enable faster local decision making”.
Last week, LBC promoted its editorial news director, Jonathan Richards, to become programme director of both LBC 97.3 and sister station LBC News 1152.
Announcing the restructure to staff this morning, Global Radio chief executive Ashley Tabor said: ‘These changes will enable us to build a new culture that values creativity, enthusiasm and innovation while rewarding success and enabling fast moving and precise decision making.”
