
The Daily Telegraph has reshuffled its newsdesk team following the promotion last week of Tony Gallagher from executive head of news to deputy editor.
Chris Evans, who has been news editor since January 2007, has now been made executive head of news and Matthew Bayley has been promoted from deputy news editor to news editor.
Assistant news editor Neville Dean has been moved to the job of deputy news editor.
Last Tuesday, then Daily Telegraph deputy editor Ian MacGregor was made editor of the Sunday Telegraph following Patience Wheatcroft's resignation.
Editor Will Lewis said of the latest changes: "I am delighted to have such a strong and vibrant news team who will continue to deliver first rate news in our paper and on-line.'
