Pitch to: Features director Emma Elms (emma.elms@haymarket.com) or features editor Linda Gray, linda.gray@haymarket.com.
Type of article: We commission a wide range of features, from real-life stories and news-led reports to quirky US trend stories and self-help features. We’re looking for hot new angles on subjects that interest the 30 to 40-something woman. Key areas of interest for our readers include: motherhood, careers, health, work/life balance, relationships, friendships, and topics in the news.
How to pitch: We ask freelances to email us with a synopsis of their idea, giving basic details of any relevant case studies, plus whether they’re willing to be photographed. Just a couple of paragraphs is enough. It’s also helpful if writers can include the names of other publications they regularly write for and any relevant experience.
What will impress: We’re always impressed by great ideas for compelling real-life stories.
What won’t impress: Pitches that go on for several pages or suggesting an idea that has recently run in another magazine. It’s best to know the market inside out.
Rate: Payment varies depending on the story and word length.
Images: Writers may need to ask their interviewees to email us a photo for use in the magazine. Otherwise, we’ll set up a shoot with one of our regular Eve photographers.
