IPC to close Loaded fashion magazine

By Press Gazette

IPC has announced its intention to close Fashion Inc, its biannual style offshoot of the Loaded brand.

The magazine group is currently in consultation with those affected – six permanent and seven regular freelance employees across both titles, the majority in editorial positions.

The company is also proposing ‘a small number’of redundancies within Loaded.

On the proposed closure, IPC Ignite managing director Eric Fuller said: ‘The title evolved from Loaded Fashion last year and despite the best efforts of its staff, we have to conclude that in the changing men’s market, Fashion Inc no longer has a viable long-term future.

‘As a result, we have taken the difficult but necessary decision to enter a consultation period with the staff of Fashion Inc, with a view to ceasing publication of the title. Should this proposal go ahead, the current Spring/Summer issue will be the last.”

Originally an offshoot of Loaded, Fashion Inc relaunched without the parent branding early last year. Most men’s titles have tried to move into the upmarket fashion niche, launching Arena Homme Plus, FHM Collections and GQ Style in a bid to attract high-end advertising and boost the brand’s fashion kudos.
