Mark Thomas appointed editor of Liverpool Daily Post

By Press Gazette

Trinity Mirror has announced that deputy editor Mark Thomas will take over from Jane Wolstenholme as editor of the Liverpool Daily Post.

Thomas, 50, began his career at the weekly group Wirral Newspapers before moving to the Liverpool Echo. He then joined Press Association as its regional correspondent in Liverpool before returning to the Echo in 1997. He joined the Daily Post as assistant editor in 2003.

He said: “The Liverpool Daily Post is a newspaper with a wonderful history and a great future ahead of it. “Working with Jane Wolstenholme has been a privilege, and I am immensely proud to be succeeding her. “She’ll be a tough act to follow, but we have some major plans for the title as we move forward into the digital age, and there couldn’t be a more exciting time to be taking the helm.” Thomas will take up the post of editor on 5 February.
