Infostrada buys into Hayters to take expertise to global platform

By Press Gazette

Infostrada, the Dutch company which specialises in global sports statistics and media management, has bought a majority shareholding in the British sports agency Hayters Teamwork.

Hayters was formed 51 years ago by the late Reg Hayter, doyen of cricket reporters and the man who launched the careers of hundreds of Fleet Street journalists. The agency changed its name to Hayters Teamwork four years ago when it merged with Teamwork, which had been run by former Hayters reporters Nick Callow and Gerry Cox.

Cox, who will continue as Hayters chief executive, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Hayters to move forward in the sports information arena, and take our expertise on to a global platform. “For more than 50 years, Hayters has been a byword for quality in traditional print media, but now we are a true multimedia organisation. Our TV crews provide material for Sky Sports, the BBC and Uefa, and we are moving into mobile services, too. Infostrada’s technological expertise and overseas client base will greatly assist this growth.”

The two agencies celebrated by sponsoring the English media’s 2-1 victory over their Dutch counterparts shortly before Wayne Rooney and co. drew with the senior Holland side in Amsterdam last week. England’s finest fell a goal behind in the first half, before storming back to win with late goals from the Daily Mail’s Neil Ashton, and Daniel Taylor of The Guardian.
