British news channels have scooped top prizes at the second Association for International Broadcasting awards.
The BBC World Service won best coverage of a single news event in the radio category for its coverage of the South Asian earthquake, which judges described as "most impressive in every respect".
Sky News won in the television category for its coverage of the London bombings, which the judges said was, "good content with excellent context for cross-border viewers".
The international television channel of the year went to BBC World, while Zimbabwean station SW Radio Africa won international radio station of the year. The BBC World Service's Assignment — Return to Sarajevo won best radio documentary programme and Al Jazeera's Prisoner 345 was awarded in the best television documentary category.
AIB chief executive Simon Spanswick said: "The international broadcasting industry is often more innovative than its domestic counterparts, and the awards demonstrate the breadth of superb content that's on offer to viewers and listeners throughout the world."
