Sun Tel mag editor poached by Sunday Times

Caroline Gascoigne is leaving the Sunday Times after seven years as literary editor to become publishing director of book publishers Hutchinson.

Gascoigne, 46, has worked at The Sunday Times for 15 years and has been a journalist for 25.

She said: "While I'm sad to be leaving the best job in literary journalism, I am thrilled to be joining Random House as publishing director of Hutchinson.."

Editor of the Sunday Telegraph’s Seven supplement Susannah Herbert is to replace her.

Herbert is returning to Wapping after a 16-year-absence, she began her journalism career on the Sunday Times as a news trainee.
