TV listings titles announce new tactics

By Press Gazette

Competition in the TV Listings market is hotting up as rival publishers announced new strategies in advance of the ABCs results this week.

Bauer is relaunching TV Quick with a new look, more celebrity gossip and an increased cover price while IPC's What's on TV is launching a mobile service allowing access to the latest TV news and programme listings through mobile phones.

TV Quick's cover price is rising by 5p to 75p to coincide with increased editorial content when it revamps in September.

Also launching in September, What's on TV mobile will be available on any wap-enabled mobile phone, providing free content to readers including TV listings, soap and TV shows search facilities.

What's on TV mobile will also have paid-for elements including ringtones and wallpapers and SMS alerts are available for future soap plotlines, the latest soap gossip and reminders of when a programme or film is due to air.

TV Quick's circulation fell to 313,454 to 285,733 in the last ABCs period while What's on TV, the biggest seller in the market, fell to 1,502,977.
