The BBC has announced Ric Bailey as the corporation's new chief adviser, politics.
Mark Byford, BBC Deputy Director-General announced that will succeed David Jordan who left the role to become controller editorial policy last December.
Bailey, who is currently deputy head of political programmes, will join the Editorial Policy team at the beginning of September.
He has been the BBC's Executive Editor for Question Time for the past six years, overseeing programmes such as the Leaders' Election Special, editions from China, Russia, the Middle East, the US and all round the UK.
He also developed and led the Schools Question Time Challenge project, a citizenship initiative which resulted in the first member of the public on the panel of Question Time earlier this month.
Previously, Ric was Editor of Political Newsgathering and before that a Political and Parliamentary Correspondent for network TV and radio. He began his BBC career in local radio.
