PA hires Angeli as first multimedia editor

By Press Gazette

The Press Association has appointed a former BBC journalist as the agency's first multimedia editor.

John Angeli was previously duty editor on the network newsdesk at Westminster, where he worked on output for the One, Six and Ten O'Clock News bulletins on television, as well as Radio 4 news and current affairs.

In his role at PA, Angeli will take editorial and operational responsibility for the agency's multimedia unit. He will report to PA editor Jonathan Grun.

The Press Association's multimedia team produces content including video news bulletins and podcasts for MSN, Sun Online, the Daily Mail, Tiscali and Northcliffe regional newspapers.

Angeli said: "We've a fresh, keen team of journalists with whom we're going to create a truly national video newsgathering service of benefit to all the information industry, be they news papers, web portals or broadcasters."

Grun said: "We are serious in our aim to become as indispensable in our provision of compelling UK video, as we already are for the supply of timely and accurate text services.

"John gives us a firm foundation of years of experience in broadcast news and online innovation on which to build the multi-platform future of PA."
