Students from the University of Cardiff scooped the top awards at the annual Guardian Student Media Awards on Wednesday.
The university’s newspaper, Gair Rhydd, won student newspaper of the
year, usurping University of York’s York Vision, which has won the
award for the past three years.
The University of Cardiff’s
magazine, Quench, won the title of student magazine of the year, and
completing the hat-trick, Quench editor James Anthony was named overall
student journalist of the year.
Other winners included Roger
Waite of the Oxford Student, who was named student reporter of the
year; Steve Dineen (Glasgow University Guardian), student feature
writer; Jonathan Bray (York Vision), student columnist; and Lippy
(University of Leeds) was student small budget publication of the year.
