Rohwedder for retail

By Press Gazette

Cecilie Rohwedder, 37, has been made the Wall Street Journal
Europe’s lead pan-European retail correspondent, based in London.
Rohwedder succeeds Robert Guy Matthews, who returned to the US earlier
this year. She will report to bureau chief Paul Beckett.

Rohwedder
will cover the world’s second- and third-largest retailers – Carrefour
and Tesco – as well as a number of other key retailers throughout
Europe.

In addition to breaking news, she will focus on innovations and other developments in the European retail industry.

She
joined WSJ in 1993 as a reporter in Brussels covering consumer goods,
advertising and Central European issues. In 1994, she moved to
Düsseldorf where she added fashion and media to her beat. She went on
to cover German politics before moving to the London bureau in 2002,
where she launched the weekly WSJ Europe’s Style column.
