…. nemesis of Richard Nixon

By Press Gazette

While still recovering from the shock of learning of the death of
the greatest American journalist of all time, Hunter S.Thompson, I was
further shocked to read your paltry coverage of the man.

Thompson
was the rock and roll journalist of the rock and roll age; to confine
the impact of his work simply to lads’ mags and music journalism is a
disgrace. He was the nemesis of Nixon a long time before the mainstream
press developed the guts to follow his lead (including Woodward and
Bernstein).

Like Presley, Lennon and all those who followed,
Thompson will be much imitated and never bettered. We will never see
his like again and there isn’t a journalist in the language working
today that can touch him.
