SUN group lays off editorial director Scott

By Press Gazette

Scottish and Universal Newspapers is making its editorial director
John Scott redundant as part of a rationalisation of the group’s
operations.

Also leaving the group is circulation director Keith McIntyre.

Scott, a former editor of the Evening Times , Glasgow, was SUN’s first editorial director when he was appointed in 2001.

SUN, which is owned by Trinity Mirror, publishes the Paisley Daily Express and around 30 weekly titles.

A
Trinity Mirror spokesman said: “These changes are the result of a
rootand- branch review of the business conducted to ensure that SUN
remains fully competitive in its marketplace.

“It is proposed
that these posts are made redundant and the company is now in a period
of consultation with the individuals concerned.”
