EU harasses as well

By Press Gazette

It is not just in the UK where journalists face harassment from the authorities in pursuit of their sources. In Brussels, investigative reporter Hans Martin Tillack, who works for the German news magazine Stern, has been accused by the European anticorruption unit OLAF of bribing an official for information.

This led to a raid on his offices and the seizure of files, notebooks and mobile phones. The raid has been described as “a gigantic fishing expedition” in which Belgian police and OLAF have tried to intimidate a reporter who, ironically, has won a reputation for exposing EU corruption.
