Five News and Sky have appointed Andy Bell, Stuart Ramsay and Peter Lane as political editor, chief correspondent and northern correspondent respectively on the new service to be launched in the New Year on Five.
Bell continues his role as political editor of Five News under the new Sky service which starts on 3 January at 5.30pm.
Ramsay joins as chief correspondent reporting on all major domestic and foreign stories. He was Sky News’ Africa correspondent since January 2001, during which time he filed an exclusive interview with the Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe.
Ramsay said: “After 15 years with Sky News and nearly a decade on the road as a correspondent in Belfast, Moscow, Washington and Johannesburg, I am relishing the opportunity of joining Five News.”
Lane returns to Five News from the BBC where he was Midlands Correspondent for the one, six and ten o’clock news programmes, News 24 and radio. He left Five News in 2002 from the then ITN-produced service.
