The fourth birthday of the biggest commercial radio station in Wales, Real Radio, has coincided with the appointment of its new Programme Director, Ricky Durkin, writes George Hamilton.
Durkin, 34, will replace Sarah Graham after a one-month handover period in November.
He said: “My overall aim is to make Real Radio bigger and better, than ever, although it will prove a difficult task to improve an already excellent service.”
He also hopes to expand upon Real Radio’s record 378,000 listeners a week, building upon the work of Graham, who moves on to join sister company Real Radio in Yorkshire.
Durkin has previously worked at The Pulse, Sun FM, CFM and Alpha 103.2 in his 13 years in on and off air roles.
He joins Real Radio from his current position at Home 107.9 in Huddersfield, where he was working as a breakfast presenter as well as Regional Group Brand Director.
