RAF called to A BBC crew had to be rescued last

By Press Gazette

A BBC crew had to be rescued last Thursday when a helicopter aboard a ship on which they were travelling fell into rough seas, leaving them stranded on an island.

The crew, which included Countryfile presenter Ben Fogle, were filming on the Skerries islands off the shore of Anglesey when the helicopter fell into the sea. No one was in the helicopter, but an RAF helicopter came to rescue the seven men from the island and flew them to the coastguard base at Holyhead.

They were filming for a feature about HMS Patricia, which repairs lighthouses.
