The Guardian Weekend

The Guardian Weekend is marking the new season with six signings, including documentary film maker and award-winning columnist for Time Out, Jon Ronson.

Ronson will write a column about his life and family in Islington.

Having written extensively about the US he said: “I realised there was loads of craziness in my own home which I should write about too.” Victor Lewis-Smith also joins the magazine as restaurant critic, while Matthew Fort, The Guardian’s food and drink editor, becomes Weekend’s resident recipe writer.

New writer, Rebecca Atkinson, is losing her sight and is only in her twenties. She will be document her dating experiences in a column.

The Weekend has also signed up Sebastiao Salgado for a 10-year project, photographing some of the world’s unspoilt countries.

Alison Jackson will produce a weekly picture of lookalikes linked to news events.
