BBC Deputy Director General Mark Byford has joined the speakers list for the Society of Editors annual conference in Newcastle in October
So have Kevin Marsh editor of The Today Programme, Tim Suter of Ofcom and Anila Baig, award-winning feature writer at The Yorkshire Post, who joins The Sun this month.
Byford and Suter will speak in a session on “A big year for broadcasting”.
Marsh will contribute to a seminar on “What makes a good journalist?” and Baig will speak in a session on building a diverse media.
The speakers list already includes Leader of the Opposition, Michael Howard MP, and Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir John Stevens, who will deliver keynote speeches.
Stewart Purvis, former editor and chief executive of ITN and now professor of Television Journalism at City University, will be the first broadcaster to deliver the 2004 Society of Editors Lecture.
