A consumer magazine hoping to cash in on the popularity of holidays and property in Italy is due to launch in November.
Backed by a marketing budget of £50,000, Italia plans to target people who are interested in travelling to Italy or are thinking of buying property there.
Bath-based publisher Anthem Publishing claims that the Italian market is underserved despite the growing number of titles devoted to living overseas.
Editorial director Paul Pettengale, who is to take day-to-day responsibility as editor, said that there would be a focus on “stunning” photography and that the title would reflect the style and culture of Italy.
He added that he intended to make it a must-have for people thinking of setting up a new life in Italy. The magazine will feature regionally based property and include destinations such as Tuscany in the first issue.
Italia will also feature articles on Italy’s cultural icons together with recommended food and wine.
Publisher Simon Stansfield said: “The Italian magazine market is one that is underserved at the moment.
There’s simply not enough coverage of what makes people tick, i.e. holidays and property.
“It’s our concentration on these two sectors that will differentiate our magazine from its only current competitor, delivering real value to our advertisers”.
Italia will have a cover price of £3.50 and a print run of 30,000. Anthem Publishing was founded in 2003 with the launch of Music Tech Magazine, dedicated to music production.
