CMPi to close design monthly

By Press Gazette

Monthly interior design magazine Intra is closing and talks have begun to try to find jobs for its staff elsewhere in CMP Information.

Three journalists work at the title – feature writer Helen Parton, parttime deputy editor Karen Glaser and editor Anthea Bain.

The September issue was half completed when staff were told the news last Thursday.

Bain said: “This is a very difficult market and the revenue was not coming through for us to keep investing.

All our staff have put in a terrific effort to maintain standards, which have really been 110 per cent.”

Launched at the beginning of 2002, Intra got off to a successful start, becoming the first B2B magazine to be shortlisted for the PPA’s monthly launch of the year.

The launch was developed from the same division (Built Environment) as CMPi’s monthly magazines Cabinet Maker and Call Centre Focus and trial launch Within. The controlled-circulation title goes out to 19,422 interior design professionals.

A spokesperson for CMPi said: “While the magazine has struggled commercially as a brand, Intra has been critically acclaimed and has created its own niche amongst designers, architects and specifiers.”

July/August is the final issue.
