Sales of Shropshire Chronicle rocket to a 23-year high

By Press Gazette

Sales of the Shrewsbury and North Shropshire Chronicle have topped 19,000 for the first time in 23 years.

Independently-audited figures published for the first six months of this year showed that the paper sold, on average, 19,018 copies per week.

This is the 15th consecutive sixmonthly increase for the paper.

In the past seven years, circulation of the Chronicle has gone up by nearly 4,000 copies a week, an increase of almost 25 per cent.

Chronicle editor, John Butterworth, said: “I am delighted we have broken through the 19,000 barrier. I put our success down to our emphasis on hard news, nostalgia, community campaigns and appeals, local sport and views plus a very hardworking team.”
