By Press Gazette

Former BBC journalist Lucian Hudson has been appointed the new director of communications for the Department for Constitutional Affairs.

Hudson is currently director of communications at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). He joined the Cabinet Office as its first director of e-communications in 2000. As well as his role at Defra, Hudson is chairman of the government’s Media Emergency Forum.

Before joining the civil service, he was 12 years with the BBC, as a producer, senior editor and head of programming – including The Nine O’Clock News and BBC World.

Hudson succeeds Allan Percival and takes up his new post at the DCA on 26 July
