Devon Journal gets the Best

By Press Gazette

Richard Best has been appointed deputy editor of the North Devon Journal.

Best, who has spent the last few weeks on temporary secondment on the newsdesk at the Journal, will also deputise for managing editor Andy Cooper in his absence and will play a key role in the strategic development of the paper.

He started as trainee reporter in Tiverton then moved to the South Wales Evening Post, initially working as health correspondent and later in different senior newsroom roles.

He then moved to Dubai where he worked first as a deputy editor, then editor of a leisure magazine, before becoming a senior editor in the Gulf’s biggest book and magazine publishing house. On returning to Devon he worked at the Express & Echo in Exeter as features editor, before returning to Tiverton last year.
