Express’s Rock quits for Observer

Lucy Rock, deputy news editor of the Daily Express, is take up the same role at The Observer.

Rock’s career in national newspapers started in 1996 when she joined the Daily Mirror as a showbusiness reporter before switching to news. She then joined The People as deputy features editor.

Rock said: “”I’m really looking forward to the fresh challenge of looking at stories more analytically and in more depth”.

Observer editor Roger Alton said: “Lucy has done an excellent job at the Express and she will play a key role at The Observer.”

Alton has also appointed Lorna Martin Scotland editor. She was previously feature writer at The Herald.
