Creative music mag hits news-stands

By Press Gazette

A magazine has launched for musicians who are seeking to learn more about the creative side of the industry.

Digital Music Maker is the latest launch from Highbury Entertainment and is edited by Karl Power, former editor of Future Music and Total Guitar magazines.

The 116-page title will appear in a super A4-format and focus on hightech music production rather than software specific tutorials. The editorial will be written in an easy to understand, jargon free style and there will be regular coverage of the latest digital technology used by guitarists, drummers and DJs.

Highbury hopes to attract budding young musicians as well as readers who are intermediate users and are already familiar with the music technology.

The magazine also promises to carry more pages of tutorials than any other music technology monthly.

Foster claimed a lot of the creative computing titles currently available were “awash with techno-speak”. He said the aim of the launch was to give musicians and computer users the advice and information they require to quickly get to grips with today’s hardware and software.

According to Highbury, the number of musicians producing music from their homes has soared due to the amount of affordable home computers and broadband internet services.

Digital Music Maker will feature a covermounted CD on every issue featuring project files to support tutorials inside the magazine and the software musicians require.

Highbury also publishes DJ magazine which slipped 10.3 per cent to 14,492 in the latest ABCs.
