Interiors magazine Living Etc has hired In Style beauty director Carmel Allen to be its new deputy editor.
Allen, who is already working at IPC, will replace Living Etc’s former deputy, Nicky Phillips, who quit to go freelance.
Allen has an extensive background in the glossies, having been health and beauty director of Red and beauty director of Nylon, Helena Christensen’s magazine in New York.
She has also worked full time on Tatler and Vogue. Commenting on her new role, Allen said: “There’s much more to Living Etc than houses and furniture. With fashion designers falling over themselves to launch new home ranges and all the best beauty brands competing to get their latest spa ranges into our bathrooms, it’s a really exciting time for me to be joining the magazine.”
Suzanne Imre, editor of Living Etc, said Allen was “dynamic, enthusiastic and passionate” about the title and would bring a fresh perspective. “Her extensive journalistic experience on some of Britain’s top glossies will make her an invaluable member of the team,” she added.
