Praise for Darlington College

By Press Gazette

Darlington College of Technology has been praised for its journalism teaching by national organisation UK Skills.

The media centre was presented with a North East Training Award at a ceremony in Newcastle for its work in the industry, in particular with trainees from Newsquest.

Approximately 200 organisations and individuals from all over the region entered the awards and Darlington was the only college on a shortlist of 15.

Earlier this year, the college journalism department was awarded the Association of Colleges’ Beacon award for delivering business excellence in the training of journalists.

“We have been striving to respond to the needs of industry and the process has had the added benefit of upskilling our staff in the field of industrial training,” said Campbell.
