A magazine for people thinking of selling up and moving to Spain is due to launch at the end of the month.
Spanish Magazine is the new launch from Bath-based property and travel publisher Merricks Media. Targeting readers aged 40 and over, who are thinking of investing in a second property or retiring to Spain, the 164-page title will be pitched at a slightly older audience than French Magazine, also published by Merricks Media.
Editorial will feature personal experiences from readers who have sold up and embarked on a new life in Spain, as well as travel and advice on the pitfalls of buying a property abroad.
Managing director of Merricks Media, Lisa Doerr, is hoping it will become a market leader, like French Magazine.
“This is a very important launch for us. The Spanish market is rapidly expanding and we aim to offer the best product in the market for lifestyle and property buying information. With our track record we will dominate the Spanish market as we have with our sister title French Magazine,” she said. According to Doerr, the market for property and travel advertising is often overlooked by larger publishers, so there is room for smaller publishers to take advantage of their “complacency”.
Spanish Magazine will go on sale 29 October at a cover price of £3.25.
The new title follows the anticipated launch this month of Everything Spain. Published by Brooklands Magazines it also plans to focus on travel and property, taking advantage of the popularity of television programmes such as A Place in The Sun.
Both magazines will have to sit alongside Living Spain, published by Albany Publishing, which also features articles about buying and selling property and reported an ABC of 15,893 for January to June 2003.
