Classic Rock magazine has produced a one-off special on Status Quo, featuring a tribute from one of the band’s biggest fans – Prince Charles, writes Ruth Addicott.
The Classic Rock Special Edition was produced with the full co-operation of the band and coincides with the release of Quo’s new album.
Lars Ulrich from heavy metal band Metallica and Coronation Street actor Bruce Jones (Les Battersby) are among the contributors. Ulrich has written a foreword and Prince Charles has written a tribute in recognition of Quo’s works for The Prince’s Trust.
The 148-page magazine, edited by Classic Rock editor-in-chief Mick Wall, includes an in-depth look at the band’s career, their record-breaking 106 appearances on Top of the Pops, their involvement with Live Aid and the results of the vote for the Top 50 Status Quo songs.
It is the first of a series of Classic Rock Special Editions from Future Publishing this year and follows specials on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and David Beckham.
The magazine goes on sale on 9 October, priced £4.99.
