Dunn: ‘fantastic opportunity’

Former Today editor Martin Dunn has been poached for the second time by New York Daily News proprietor Mort Zuckerman.
Dunn, who edited the NYDN from 1993 to 1996, is returning to the paper in the newly created post of editorial director at the end of October. He will oversee strategy, promotions and advertising for the daily and Sunday editions. He will also strengthen a team that has secret plans for other publishing projects.
Dunn is currently managing director of media company Front of Mind, which is majority-owned by Daily Mail and General Trust.
He joined DMGT in 1997 when he returned to the UK and has worked on the company’s Channel One, and for its internet division before setting up Front of Mind three years ago.
Dunn has also been deputy editor of The Sun and editor of Rupert Murdoch’s Boston Herald.
“The New York media is still one of the most vibrant in the world,” he said. “Mort’s given me a fantastic opportunity to get back into that scene.”
NYDN editor-in-chief Ed Kosner retires next March.
