Ian Monk secures corporate PR deal

By Press Gazette

Former national newspaper journalist Ian Monk has won a 12-month contract to handle corporate public relations for Hachette Filipacchi UK, publisher of a major portfolio of titles including Elle, Red, Sugar and TV Hits.

His new company, Ian Monk Associates, will also work with Hachette’s in-house team on the individual titles and brands.

Monk last month left hatch-group, where he was managing director of MacLaurin Media, to start up his own PR business. He had previously enjoyed a five-year relationship with Emap, including the 1998 launch of Red, then owned by Emap.

Monk, a former senior editor on the Daily Mail, Daily Express and The Sun, turned to PR six years ago.

Some of his other new clients include the Periodical Publishers Association, Cherie Blair lifestyle guru Carole Caplin and top chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.
