Changes to PG news team as Morgan retires

By Press Gazette

Press Gazette will make two additions to its newsdesk next month after Jean Morgan retires after 19 years with the magazine.

Dominic Ponsford joins as newspapers reporter, covering the national and regional newspaper market, a patch he will cover with Mary Stevens who moves from the features desk to become news and feature writer.

Ponsford began his career as district reporter on the Hastings Observer, and passed his NCE after taking an NCTJ pre-entry course at Lambeth College.

He is currently senior reporter and feature writer with the Swindon Evening Advertiser, where he has been for the past two years.

He has also been features editor for magazine publisher Breakthrough Media and a press analyst at online news service NewsIndex.

Stevens, who began her journalism career three years ago as Press Gazette’s editorial assistant, has since written extensively across all parts of the magazine. At the same time, editorial assistant Sarah Boden becomes a reporter. She completed her postgraduate diploma in magazine journalism at Cardiff University’s School of Journalism. The changes take effect on 5 June, the day after Morgan retires.
