Informer leads march on Hounslow Council

By Press Gazette

The Hounslow Informer took to the streets with its latest campaign against local council cuts.

Hounslow Council announced last month that it was planning to privatise home care for the elderly.

The newspaper immediately launched its campaign against the proposals, and last week organised a march from the Informer offices down to the council headquarters.

More than 120 marchers took to the streets and heckled the councillors as they arrived for a meeting.

Informer news editor Tom Carlin said: “We decided to start the campaign to focus everybody’s energies and make a significant stand against the council plans. It has made us all feel proud and shows what a communtiy newspaper should be about.”

lRight: the Informer-organised march arrives at the council HQ.
