The Press Association entertained 25 UK regional newspaper sports editors at an open day at its operations centre in Howden, Yorkshire last week.
It was an opportunity for them to hear about recent expansions to the Press Association’s sport services and the national news agency’s plans for upcoming sporting events, including the Rugby World Cup in Australia and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
The sports editors heard from PA’s sports editor, David Balmforth, and his teams plus members of the British Olympic Association, the British Horseracing Board, the England and Wales Cricket Board and Fantasy Football League.
PA plans to make the open day an annual event.
