A student journalist on work experience at the News & Star and Cumberland News in Carlisle has landed his second national scoop after tracking down Lord of the Rings stars on an "away from it all" New Year pheasant shoot.
Last summer, 23-year-old Chris Musson was also the reporter who found the mystery author, David Harkins, of the poem read out at the Queen Mother’s funeral. Both stories made the national press.
His exclusives have helped earn him a job as a reporter at the papers, for four days a week only until he has finished the final year of his journalism degree at Carlisle’s Institute of the Arts.
Musson discovered Elijah Wood, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan (Frodo, Pippin and Merry in the The Two Towers film), on a country estate near Penrith.
The three off-screen friends wanted to escape the glare of the public and rest for a few days, but Musson’s persistence in badgering their agent, Aude Powell, for an interview when he was tipped off they were in the area, paid off.
