The BBC has chosen Wimbledon to launch its first interactive service allowing viewers to pick the live matches they want to watch.
During the two weeks of the tournament, beginning next month, digital satellite viewers will be able to use their handsets to select from five games shown on BBC1 and BBC2.
A joint project by BBC Sport and BBC New Media, it is the first in the BBC’s strategy to develop its interactive services.
"BBC Wimbledon Interactive is a view into the future of televised sport," said Peter Salmon, BBC director of sport. "This is the first truly interactive sport service to offer real choice for tennis fans and is a fundamental change, which might in time change sport broadcasting."
Viewers will be able to select a game shown on five small screens on the left of the picture and listen to live commentary, as well as read reports and player profiles with the text service.
BBC Sport Online will also be providing a dedicated Wimbledon website (www.bbc.co.uk/wimbledon).
