Henri Ruet’s 1965 picture of US Marines in Vietnam
A veteran foreign correspondent and an award winning photographer are to give a lecture, Reporting the World for Fifty Years, linked to a photographic exhibition to raise funds for a colleague.
Horst Faas, Associated Press senior photo editor and a Pulitzer prize winner, and Richard Blystone, CNN’s senior correspondent for Europe, Africa and the Middle are teaming up in aid of stroke rehabilitation fund for former AP colleague and mentor Don McNicoll.
Rose-Marie Wheeler Tuohy, former editorial director of Magnum Photos in New York, has designed the photographic exhibition. The Freedom Forum has lent part of its Requiem collection of works by photographers killed in the Vietnam War.
The lecture will include a film of extracts from Requiem by Faas and colleague Tim Page.
Don McNicoll was London editor at the AP in London from 1946 to 1979.
The lecture will be held at the Royal Geographical Society in London, on April 11, with a reception starting at 6.15 pm.
