The British Safety Council (BSC) is looking for head of communications (£50K + benefits) to develop and deliver its annual communications plans. Reporting to the Director of Qualifications and External Affairs, you will manage all internal and external communications. You will also manage its external PR agency and the events team, and provide direction for the publications team. You should be educated to degree level and will have at least three years’ experience in a communications management role. Job location: Hammersmith. Closing date:16 October.

BP is hiring a technology reporter for its communications team. You will be responsible for generating story ideas, writing, commissioning, editing and reworking news and features material. You must have a strong track record in journalism and proven written and editorial skills. Experience in a technology and/or energy-related field would be an advantage, as would a science-related degree. Job location: London. Closing date: 19 October.

S&S Media is looking for an online editor. You will research topics, observe the market, coordinate a network of free specialist authors and acquire new authors. You will also work out print, online and conference concepts, and process the editorial articles of the free authors. You should be an experienced editor in the online sector with a perfect knowledge of the English language. This is a home based role. You need to be in regular contact with the editorial team in Frankfurt, Germany. Closing date: 2 November.

Financial Adviser, part of Financial Times Business, is hiring a reporter who can deliver high-quality financial services stories. You will be required to build up a strong industry contacts book, break exclusives and meet strict editorial deadlines for both, print and online. You should have reporting and contact building experience. NCTJ qualification would be preferred. Job location: London. Closing date: 16 October.

Credit Today, the magazine for the commercial and consumer credit industries, is looking for a senior reporter (£23 – 25K).The role involves writing for the monthly magazine and supplements, as well as contributing daily web news stories and helping shape the online content. You will be passionate about breaking exclusive news stories. Shorthand skills and online experience are desirable. Job location: London. Closing date: 29 October.

A senior reporter is required to join the editorial team producing the John O’Groat Journal and Caithness Courier, two bi-weekly titles for Caithness and North Sutherland. You will attend meetings and write human interest stories. You should have a thorough working knowledge of the Scottish court system as well as a good understanding of local government and the Scottish political scene. A keen interest in sports would be a bonus. You should be NCTJ qualified or have equivalent experience. A full driving licence is essential, as is a willingness to take pictures when required. Job location: Wick, Caithness, Scotland. Closing date: 23 October.

PennWell Corporation, a B2B information media company, is seeking a chief editor (£40K + bonus) to oversee Renewable Energy World. The Chief Editor is responsible for setting the editorial direction for the brands consistent with the business goals, as well as overseeing all editorial content via print, online and video delivery. You should have an advanced degree in Journalism, English, or a relevant field, and knowledge of all aspects of editorial style and operations associated with print and online. Sourcingfocus, a portal for the UK outsourcing community, is looking for a writer. You will be experienced in writing in depth features, case studies, best practice guides and technical reports, as well as news articles. Experience in shaping, and then managing the editorial delivery of complete supplements and year books is also desirable. Job location: London.

Hubert Burda Media is seeking an editor to join its Colchester-based title, The Essential Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedroom Magazine. You will have experience as either editor or deputy editor, on a consumer magazine, ideally in the home interest market. In addition to impeccable subbing, writing and leadership skills, the ability to form and maintain excellent working relationships with PR agencies and advertising clients is a must. Closing date: 31 October.

The BBC is looking for a broadcast journalist to join its team in the Isle of Man. Responsibilities include sourcing and creating written and visual content for the Isle of Man’s BBC Local website, and providing material for North West Tonight and other TV/radio outlets. You must have good writing skills with an ability to build and develop contacts and a creative approach to story telling. Job location: Isle of Man. Closing date: 18 October.

Medical Imprint, the medical education division of Haymarket Medical, is looking for a managing editor. Responsibilities include: editing, medical writing, fact-checking and proofreading documents for accuracy and house style, image selection and high-quality final output. You should have strong skills in medical editing and writing, and communication and management skills. You should be a proficient user of InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop, Acrobat and Flightchecker. Job location: Hammersmith.

Medical Imprint, the medical education division of Haymarket Medical, seeks a sub-editor to work across a diverse range of publications. The job involves sub-editing and layout of copy written by healthcare professionals, covering a wide range of medical topics. You will also approach authors to write articles. You will have editing experience and will ideally be familiar with InDesign. Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience and knowledge of client-driven or contract publishing would be advantageous. Job location: Hammersmith.
