Worthing Sentinel has ‘ceased publication’

By admin

Weekly free newspaper the Worthing Sentinel – which started life as monthly supplement – has ceased publication.

According to the Doctor WatsOn blog, which covers events in West Sussex, the Newsquest-owned paper published its last edition on 13 October.

Press Gazette reported earlier this month how the Sentinel’s parent company was dropping its Worthing reporter as one of seven staff being cut in Sussex.

It is understood that the post relates to the Sentinel’s founder and editor Paul Holden – its sole dedicated staff member – who used to also file copy for publication in the Argus.

Doctor WatsOn has published a tribute to Holden and his paper and detailed history of how the publication cam to life.
