Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

Two television journalists move to Thomson Foundation

By Owen Amos

Journalism training body the Thomson Foundation has appointed two former ITN reporters, Tim Rogers and Eric MacInnes, in training roles.

Rogers, an ITN correspondent and former BBC News presenter, has been appointed head of training.

MacInnes, a former ITV and ITN correspondent who reported from Iraq and Afghanistan, has become head of the Thomson Faculty at its Abu Dhabi media academy, designed to train journalists in the Gulf.

He said: ”I’ve always enjoyed working in the Middle East and this was an exciting opportunity to help shape the futures of talented media professionals in the region.

‘Working for The Thomson Foundation is a great privilege as its international reputation is second to none.”

Chief executive Janet Boston said: ‘This is an exciting time for Tim Rogers and Eric MacInnes to join the foundation as we have several large projects in Europe and the Middle East which will make the most of their skills as top UK journalists.

‘Their up to date experience, knowledge of new media and belief in the importance of an independent media goes to the heart of the Foundation’s mission.’
