Comedian Mel Giedroyc will join Tortoise world affairs editor Giles Whittell to host a podcast car show to be titled Electric Dreams.
Described by Whittell as “a cross between Top Gear and Blue Planet”, the 12-episode podcast will see the pair review a different electric car each instalment.
Each episode, Whittell said, he will drive in a different car to pick up first an environmental expert (“a boffin”) and second Giedroyc. The trio will use the car’s recharge period as time to discuss the wider impact of the shift to electric cars on the economy and society before dropping Giedroyc home.
Press Gazette reported in January that Tortoise was investing a fresh £10 million of investment in audio journalism, events and membership revenue.
