The US-based news and photo agency Splash has paid ‘significant’damages to actor David Walliams and his wife Lara Stone for harassment and invasion of privacy.
The law firm Schillings, which acted for the couple, said legal action was taken after Splash photographed the pair on a day out in London in April.
As well as paying damages the agency has also issued an apology to the couple and agreed to pay their legal costs.
In a statement in its website Splash said: ‘In April 2011, photographers pursued David Walliams and Lara Stone while they spent the day together in London.
‘Splash subsequently made these images available for onward publication.
‘We wish to convey our apologies to the couple for the harassment and unwarranted intrusion into their private lives and make it known that we have reimbursed all legal costs and have paid them damages.”
An anti-harassment order obtained by Walliams and Stone last year remains in place, according to Schillings.
Splash is headquartered in Los Angeles but has offices in London, New York, Rome, Milan, Berlin, Sydney and Florida. Picture agency Corbis bought the company for an undisclosed fee in July.
